ALPHABETICAL SPARROW

Posted by Picasa
It was during 1999 that having just acquired my first PC that I made the attempt at putting up a “homepages” web site (see above). Of course it was Mighty Sparrow related and meant to make a statement that someone would challenge and hopefully be able to put me right on the subject. The fact is that although I did receive several good feedbacks acknowledging my suggestion as being interesting, no one managed to disagree with my assertion that “1st there was Balisier!!”. 13 years have elapsed and I find I am still short of any conclusive evidence of the provenance of what seems to have been Sparrow`s “1st L.P”. A few years ago I did have a re think and somehow came to the conclusion that maybe I had been wrong all this time and surely it should really be “1st there was Cook!!”. I duly edited the following web page to that effect. http://www.grenadamusic.demon.co.uk/page21.html

Does it really matter a darn one way or another anyway?. Well I believe it does and can only hope that possibly this time around someone may be able to throw some authoritative light on my long time Balisier Vs Cook poser.

Sparrow once stated that he was "Trini by boat" and "Grenadian by birth". Trinidadians however have always claimed Sparrow as their own and according to his 1962 calypso they were begging him *Sparrow come back home*.
From the album RCA LPB 3006.

Lord Kitchener - The Chinese never had a VJ Day

"The Chinese never had a VJ Day". An old calypso from the late great Lord Kitchener.

I well remember our VE and VJ day celebrations, a great street party was held in our road in Mill Hill, London on both VE and VJ victory dates.

A musical tribute to Sir Alec Bedser by Lord Kitchener. The events of the 1953 cricket test match against Australia are recalled in calypso.
